This is our review of our back yard PARADISE project completed by Ryan Hughes Design at our home.
We first contacted Ryan Hughes after seeing some of their signature projects on Houzz while residing in California. After speaking with them on the phone we easily scheduled a meeting with their lead designer, Jeff Zock during one of our trips to Florida. That meeting with Jeff turned out to be one of the best decisions we made since moving to Florida. Jeff took the time to get to know us and really guided us to what we were looking for in a back yard paradise. They DID NOT disappoint.
Jeff and Ryan took our "dreams/ideas" (Infinity edge pool, barbecue/refrigerator/ice maker, granite counters, fire-pit, zero-edge Jacuzzi, multi-levels, amazing for parties, natural and complete landscaping inside and outside) and created a plan that blew us away. Everything from design to actual construction, including landscaping and furniture, was handled by Ryan's talented team.
Ryan's Designer, Sozan, is EXTREMELY gifted. She carefully walked us through all color/fabric/furniture choices which resulted in a magazine quality outdoor living area at a reasonable price. We did some "cost comparison" shopping for outdoor furniture pieces, but no one could beat the price, nor quality that we received from Ryan. All of Ryan's employees that worked at our house were professional and respectful. It is hard to believe that projects of this magnitude can be completed with ZERO disturbances to the homeowner or neighbors. Ryan was also on site frequently to monitor progress, quality, and design. He did not hesitate to make any on sight changes to improve the "little things" that get lost on paper. All of which made our amazing outdoor living space even better! Ryan Hughes is a true professional in every sense.
Ryan Hughes Design promised us not just a pool, but a backyard oasis that would have you out of the house. I can guarantee that NO ONE wants to stay inside when they see what is out back. We searched the Tampa Bay area for a pool builder with the highest construction standards and attention to detail properties that we hoped for. Ryan Hughes Design did not disappoint! Not only is their work 5 out of 5 stars, but their attention to detail is unmatched by any builder we researched. To say he puts his name on his projects is an understatement.
We are extremely grateful for our Outdoor Living Space and will continue to enjoy its timeless design for many years to come. When you walk outside you feel like you have stepped into a Spa in Dubai (as mentioned by a guest)! You can say without a doubt that Ryan Hughes Design nailed it! Thank You!

Ryan and his team designed and built us the most amazing backyard oasis. We had recently built a home in a planned community that had a lovely view from the backyard of conservation forest but had a bad slope right in the middle of the yard. After trying to get our builder and every local pool builder to work with us with no luck, I came across Ryan Hughes Design & Build. From our first conversation, I felt he understood what I wanted to do. They took my rather vague wish list (pool for big family, outdoor kitchen/bar, fireplace, hot tub, privacy, multi-level, amazing for parties, natural) and created a plan that wowed us. Yes, we spent more than we had planned- but Ryan helped us cut cost where we could without losing the "wow factor".
Everyone that worked at the house was professional, courteous, the most neat & tidy construction people I've ever worked with. They handled every aspect of the project from design, building out the yard with concrete walls, pool, kitchen, fireplace, landscaping, lighting and furniture. We've had the backyard complete now for 7 months and not a week goes by that people don't stop and ask us who built it. There were some issues here and there that came up (like all construction projects) but Ryan has always been quick to respond and resolve any problems or concerns, even after our project was complete. We can't believe this amazing space is ours. I would highly recommend Ryan Hughes Design & Build.

Upon first seeing photos of Ryan's work online (before we even moved to Florida), we were convinced that he was "our guy" for our outdoor living space renovations. From our initial meeting, through the design phase, demolition and construction, Ryan and his team never disappointed. Their communication, presence and attention to detail were top notch. Always available to answer questions and at our house almost daily to make sure everything was exactly as should be. Every single person involved with this job (and there were A LOT) was hard-working and courteous. Schedules were upheld and deadlines met... even when it was pouring raining, those guys were here working! Best part... the finished product. We are thrilled with the end result and our outdoor living space is hands-down the crown jewel of our home.
Bottom line... so thankful that we found and subsequently hired Ryan and his team. Such an amazing group of professionals. If you are looking for a truly unique design and a wonderful team to implement the project, I simply cannot recommend Ryan Hughes Design/Build more strongly.

Ryan Hughes took on the monumental task of creating our resort-style pool with multiple fire pit seating areas, and a complete outdoor kitchen, all in a defined space with no room for expansion. Ryan's ability to maximize seating while satisfying our desire for flowing water and fire is clearly a testament to his skill as a designer. From the moment you enter our front door, our guests are treated to the shock and awe of an oasis just inviting you to sit and enjoy. Ryan gives every detail his personal attention, allowing nothing to go unnoticed. Now, a year later, Mr. Hughes has repeatedly intervened on our behalf with respect to appliance companies, the pool equipment warranties, resulting in a seamless upkeep of our beautiful space. Ryan Hughes designed and built a space you do not want to leave.

I originally did not hire Ryan Hughes to design and build my pool and I went with a low cost bidder. The pool I built was a complex multi-level pool with four infinity edges. Unfortunately, the design exceeded the original contractor's ability and the pool began to leak and the exterior infinity edge walls and pool floor began to calcify.
With my tail between my legs I called Ryan (the second highest priced bidder) and explained my situation and asked for help fixing a problem he didn't create. I was surprised he agreed to help.
The infinity edges had to be demolished and rebuilt. The finish and spa light both had warranty claims. Ryan went over options and pros and cons for each and his relationships with the pool product vendors helped expedite the claims. Ryan even showed up on the job site himself to oversee critical phases of the remodeling (and rebuilding).
Ryan also re-evaluated the design. We improved the landscape, added hardscape features, changed the outdoor lighting, added "sun sails," improved the architecture of the house to match the "zen" spa-like feel of the newly improved outdoor living area, and we upgraded the glass tile in the pool to better fit the design.
We may have paid for the pool twice, but I also got twice the pool I originally purchased. Ryan had no reason to help me. Yet, he took over the project like it was his own and turned our black hole in the back yard into our favorite living of our home. This guy and his team are remarkable, both in terms of artistic design and construction quality. His work and business ethics are also a rare find.

Outstanding service was provided to us in the design and build of our outdoor kitchen and living space. We were able to participate in design ideas at every level. The work was carried out with the greatest of care to the last detail. The crew worked tirelessly. Our new tropical paradise is a retreat that our friends and family enjoy every day. I contracted Ryan Hughes Design build to redesign and rebuild my outdoor living space. It involved a complete demolition and rebuild of the area including permits. Ryan was able to pull together a design rivalled by none, and was able to back it up with quality materials and workmanship.
They handled the project on schedule with utmost professionalism and i would not hesitate to recommend their firm. They did a great job and we are very pleased with the outcome and will enjoy our outdoor living space for years to come.

Ryan Hughes Design is an extremely professional company. They designed and built my pool/spa, all marble decks and walkways, outside seating area and keystone block retaining walls as well as landscaping. The project was done in a couple phases over a year or so.
Ryan Hughes is so talented with his knowledge of design and what will work with your home. The installation was well-managed with very few problems.
I would definitely recommend this company!

My husband and I interviewed multiple outdoor design companies. While we were impressed with some of their designs, we were never WOW'D until we met Ryan Huges and discussed his vision for our outdoor living space. We were further impressed with his formal presentation and detailed blueprints showing every aspect of the design plan for the multiple tiers of our backyard, which included an 18" raised fire pit on a 6" raised patio area with flag stone pavers, multiple raised seat walls, an outdoor kitchen with trellis, and flag stone steps leading to a 14'x14' raised wooden deck with an 18"x18" seat bench surrounding a large fire table.
Over the course of a few short weeks we watched our backyard design come to life. The end result is more beautiful than we could have imagined. We celebrated our project completion with a neighborhood progressive dinner. Since then, three neighbors have contracted Ryan Huges Design Build to design and build their outdoor living spaces and others are still signing up!
